My therapeutic approach is person-centered (Rogerian) where I promote non-judgemental stance, congruence and empathy. I believe patients always have answers within them and my job is to help them actualizing their potential. I enjoy working with children, adolescents and adults who have the following challenges: depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, substance use, self harming behavior, crisis, stress, grief, personal growth, relationship, cultural and spiritual issues.
My previous experience included school counseling, hospice, crisis intervention at residential program and treating severe mental illness and substance use at outpatient program. I utilize play therapy and sand-play to work with children. I use holistic approach and utilize DBT, mindfulness exercises and motivational interviewing for adults.
My office is centrally located in San Diego. I always integrate each patient's unique cultural experience into my practice. Culture includes not only your race or ethnicity, but also your age, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, etc. I can also provide therapy in Japanese.
